Welcome to the website of the Arun Valley line Community Rail Partnership!
The Sussex Community Rail Partnership looks after four of the Sussex Rail lines:- Marshlink line, Uckfield line, East Grinstead line and the Arun Valley line.
The Arun Valley line Community Rail Partnership is a grouping of some 30 organisations and individuals - Parish, District and County Councils, local Community Partnerships, Southern train operating company, bus companies, Sustrans, Action in Rural Sussex, South Downs Joint Committee, Arundel Festival and Gatwick Airport. List of our Members
We promote rail travel, especially tourism by train, through this website, leaflets and events. We are keen to engage with communities in taking positive action over local transport choices, the potential to contribute to reducing reliance on the private car and the scope to bring communities together around a common issue.
We are committed to continue to work with community transport operators to help improve bus-rail integration, local authorities and others to continue to meet these objectives and the broader ones of fair access to services and transport for people in rural communities and improving stations as gateways to towns and villages. We help communities and businesses to adopt or sponsor their local station.
On the Arun Valley line, modern, air-conditioned trains can take you to the South Downs, the market towns of Arundel, Pulborough and Billingshurst, shopping centres and places work like Horsham, Crawley and Chichester & Gatwick Airport, the coastal resorts of Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, or to take a plane at Gatwick Airport and of course London. Further information can be found by clicking on the Interactive Map.
Our aims are:- * To develop an efficient rail passenger service, providing train services which meet the communities’ needs. * To provide integrated connecting services to allow the community to get to and from stations easily, conveniently and inexpensively. * To increase the use of the line for tourism and leisure related travel. * To maximise the communities’ use of the rail infrastructure, particularly buildings and land. * To preserve the potential for future freight use. |
